Health screenings and diagnostic tests are among the most important tools for protecting your long-term health. Why Health Screenings Matter

Many serious health conditions, including high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and certain cancers, develop quietly with few or no early symptoms. Regular screenings help catch these conditions before they become serious, when treatment is simpler and more effective.

  • Better outcomes:conditions found early are often easier to treat or manage
  • Fewer complications:timely care can prevent heart disease, stroke, kidney damage, and more
  • Lower long-term costs:prevention typically costs far less than treating advanced disease
  • Peace of mind:knowing your numbers helps you make informed decisions about your health

We are thrilled with our first visit here. Everything moved very quickly and efficiently, as they seem to have a very effective team of employees. The appointment lasted approximately 1 hour, and that included new patient intake forms, vitals, seeing the doctor and getting labs done. I love how fast the process went, while also feeling seen, heard and feeling like our concerns were valid and taken seriously. The receptionists were all very friendly, inviting and helpful, including Delilah, who checked us out and set our next appointment. Finding a new primary care provider can be quite overwhelming and time consuming, but not here, and the services offered go above and beyond anything we expected. We look forward to future visits with this practice.

I’ve had a great experience with Alamo Primary Care. Everyone in the office has always been friendly, welcoming, and willing to help. The front desk ladies are always kind and make everything easy, whether it’s scheduling appointments or answering questions. The doctor takes the time to listen and explain things without making you feel rushed, and the PA has been just as helpful and knowledgeable. It’s nice to go to a doctor’s office where you feel like they actually care about their patients. Highly recommend!

This was my first time at this location and I was pleasantly surprised at every turn of this appointment. The front staff were incredibly welcoming and equally as funny. I’m a nervous talker so they humored me and it helped me calm down a lot. The doctor was punctual and very thorough for a first time visit which was a pleasant surprise. He had several follow up questions about each of my concerns and gathered more information as well as educated me more than any physician I’ve seen on a first visit. Excellent first impression and visit.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Dr. Vishal. From the moment I walked in, I felt comfortable from the check in with the ladies up front to the medical assistants in the back! He talked to me, not at me. He listened to my concerns, asked thoughtful questions, and made me feel validated. He came highly recommended and I never felt one ounce of regret. It’s such a relief to finally have a primary care doctor who makes you feel seen and heard. 10/10 recommend!

Also the receptionist were awesome Andrea, Jen, Delilah were so nice to my kids they gave them Christmas light up necklaces because my kids asked for stickers. Great people

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I get a health screening in San Antonio, TX?

Alamo Primary Care provides preventive health screenings in San Antonio and Boerne, Texas, including blood pressure checks, cholesterol panels, diabetes testing, and cancer screening guidance. Screenings are personalized by a primary care provider based on your age, history, and risk factors.

What health screenings should adults get every year?

Please schedule an appointment with one of our providers so they can guide you on this.

What is the difference between a screening test and a diagnostic test?

A screening test checks for disease in people without symptoms, such as a routine cholesterol panel. A diagnostic test is used when symptoms are present or a screening result is abnormal, to confirm or rule out a specific condition and guide treatment.

Do I need to fast before blood work?

At what age should I start colorectal cancer screening?

Adults at average risk should begin colorectal cancer screening at age 45, according to current U.S. guidelines. People with a family history or other risk factors may need to start earlier, so discuss your timeline with your primary care provider.

How long does it take to get lab results?

Most routine lab results are available within one to three business days. Rapid tests such as strep and flu provide results during the visit. Alamo Primary Care reviews results with patients in person or through a telemedicine follow-up.

Are preventive health screenings covered by insurance?

Yes — preventive health screenings are often covered by health insurance when you meet certain requirements. It depends on the insurance plan that you have.

Can I get my lab results explained through telemedicine?

Yes, Alamo Primary Care offers telemedicine visits for reviewing lab and screening results. Patients in San Antonio, Boerne, and the surrounding area can discuss results and next steps with their provider from home.
